It was approximately two years after the actual birth of Jesus that the caravan of “wise men” came to find Jesus. ( there were more than 3 wise men) This is why Herod ordered all male children 2 years or less to be executed. By this time Jesus would be about 2 years old and able to travel with his parents, Mary and Joseph, to Egypt as the Angel commanded. The gifts given by the caravan (the Wise men) provided for Mary , Joseph and Jesus for the travel to Egypt, while they were there and for their return to Bethlehem then to Nazareth.
