Life without Integrity - is a life of uncertainty

Proverbs 3:5 says, What does it mean to “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”

Proverbs 3:5 means that God wants you to trust Him with your whole heart, even when you cannot understand everything that is happening in your life.

Let’s break it down.

“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart”

This means putting your confidence in God, believing that He loves you, knows what is best, and will guide you.

It means trusting Him not just when life is going well, but also when you are afraid, confused, or facing difficult decisions.

“And lean not unto thine own understanding”

Think of leaning on a strong tree when you are tired. You depend on it to support you.

God is saying, “Don’t depend entirely on your own thoughts, feelings, or judgment.”

We only see a small part of what is happening. We don’t always know what the future holds or why certain things happen.

This doesn’t mean God wants you to stop thinking, asking questions, or using the wisdom He has given you. It means recognizing that your understanding is limited and His is greater.

What does this mean in everyday life?

Suppose you are going through a difficult time and you cannot understand why God has allowed it to happen.

You might pray:

“Lord, I don’t understand why this is happening. I don’t know what tomorrow will bring. But I believe You love me, and I am going to trust You even though I don’t have all the answers.”

That is what this verse is teaching.

The heart of Proverbs 3:5 is this: You don’t have to understand everything to trust the One who does.

And when it comes to knowing Jesus Christ, it means believing that even when you cannot see the whole picture, you can still place your life in His hands.
