How to prevent the FamilyFellowship.com filter from being removed
-
By default, the FamilyFellowship.com filter requires a password to be removed. Therefore, someone cannot simply uninstall the filter to remove it.
-
However, if the person has administrator access to the computer, they can perform a “System Restore,” which will take the computer back to a point prior to when the filter was installed, thereby removing the filter.
-
This is true on Any Program installation you installed not just familyfellowship.com - thus it is always wise to limit the Admin access.
-
Therefore, FamilyFellowship.com recommends that you set up accounts for each person that will be using the computer that should not have access to remove the filter. Each of these accounts should be marked as “Limited” rather than “Administrator.” Below are instructions of how to set up a new Limited account.
Please note: Your system may look slightly different based on the way you have your computer configured.

If you are using Windows XP:
Click Start, and select Control Panel
Click “User Accounts” in the right column.
In the window that opens, click “Create a New Account.”

Enter a name for the new account, and click “Next.”

In the next step, select “Limited” for the account type, and click “Create Account.” You should be finished! Make sure your administrative account has a secure password, so that it cannot be used by someone else to perform a restore, or grant more rights to standard user accounts.
If you are using Windows Vista:
Click Start, and select Control Panel
Click “Add or Remove User Accounts” on the top left, and click “Continue” on any Security dialogues that may prompt you.
Click “Create a New Account” at the bottom of the window.
Type a name for the new account, and make sure that “Standard User” is selected. Click “Create Account.”
And you’re done! A standard user will not be able to perform a system restore. Make sure your administrative account has a secure password, so that it cannot be used by someone else to perform a restore, or grant more rights to standard user accounts.
